Description: this is an image from the 1940 yearbook of the Chiba Medical University (Chiba Ika Daigaku) with clouds that appear to be airburshed in. This retouching was done in the negative process and not to the print. This yearbook is entitled Kaiyo-Kai and was entirely illustrated with tipped-in gelatin silver prints. Almost all of the images in it depicting campus life were taken by student photographer Koji Matsuo who was also a member of the yearbook's staff. Matsuo’s work was highly artistic and skillfully composed. This was published in March 1940 (Showa year ‘15), so these images were taken in both 1939 and 1940. Chiba is the neighboring prefecture next to Tokyo.

This print is mounted to a thick creamy colored strathmore cotton rag paper and in very good condition.

Paper mount size: 13 1/8 x 10 1/2 in. (335 x 270 mm.).
