The Ashiya Camera Club:

From 1930 to 1942 the members of ACC were some of the most influential modernist photographers in Japan during the 1930s and early 1940s. They employed radical concepts of design and composition which they labeled “Shinko Shashin” or new photography (movement). Some of the members included; Iwata Nakayama, Kanbe Hanaya, Kichinosuke Benitani, Seiji Korai, Kenichiro Yamakawa and Juzo Matsubara. It is not known what Kurihara’s affiliation was to this group, but the fact that he entered ACC photo competitions indicates he was connected somehow to this group.
